Chiropractic Health Problems
The reason people are routinely plagued with spine problems as they age, is that they didn't care for it when they were pain-free! Like your teeth, your spine deserves routine attention in the form of maintenance adjustments, stretching, and strengthening exercises. Proper ergonomics is a big plus too!
The old chiropractors used to say "Those with the symptoms are the lucky ones." Why? Because THEN, if you are seeing the right chiropractor, you get an education on the importance of maintaining pressure-free spinal nerves and slowing spinal decay!!!
So then what are symptoms? Symptoms are hints or clues. It's your body speaking to you that it needs attention. Sometimes the problems, the decay is silent; perhaps YEARS! However, common symptoms that bring people to our office include headaches, migraines, TMJ pain, pain and numbness in the neck, upper back pain low back pain, sciatica, and numbness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet.
Fun Fact: Some "conditions"may be helped through chiropractic care, ones that you wouldn't have thought of including infantile colic, recurrent ear infections, and bedwetting. There are even chiropractic techniques to help with hiatal hernias and to turn breach babies.
Chiropractic Adjustments
When you are a patient at Dr. Phillips' office you learn how physical, mental, and emotional stress can create pressure in your spinal joints and nerves creating a dysfunction called " spinal subluxation." Spinal subluxations can occur anywhere in the spine, typically where your spine is weak, or where one part of it transitions to another. Subluxations often (but not always ) lead to the above-mentioned issues.
A chiropractic adjustment is the method the chiropractor uses to reduce nerve and joint pressure (spinal subluxation) and restore normal spinal movement. It is important to note that chiropractic skills vary greatly among chiropractors and a comfortable, deep Gonstead method adjustment is always the goal in our office. We want chiropractic to be a pleasant experience for you and your family too!
A Plan of Care
A plan of care is determined by the chiropractor and the patient. In our offices, an ideal plan of care is to restore natural movement to the whole spine and to teach the patient how to take daily care of his or her spine. Just as your dentist wants you to take daily care of your teeth, most chiropractors want you to take regular care of your spine with stretching and strengthening activities; ones Dr. Phillips teaches to his patients.
